Leicestershire county council meeting 13/09/18

We are pleased to announce that following yesterday’s Leicestershire county council meeting that…

“An order is to be made under the provisions of Section 53 of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 to add a Public Footpath to the Definitive Maps and Statements for Leicestershire and Northamptonshire”.

This is the first major hurdle of our long term project to create AdamSmile, a safe walking and cycling route away from traffic between Lubenham and Market Harborough.

We are delighted with this outcome and it is significant step towards achieving our ultimate goal. We would like to thank the charity trustees and all those that have continued to support us for the last 12 years.

  1. I just read about your achievement and the death of your lovely son, in the Leicester mercury today. What a tribute to him. I am humbled by your ability to focus and bring positives and light to a horrific loss – I am sure it was very hard to do this at times, and I salute you.

THANKYOU for creating a safe cycle route for children to cycle from lubenham to school. It is an immense achievement, especially when you see the huge number of barriers you faced.

I live in Leicester, and my twelve year old twin daughters cycle or scoot to school, so your story really touched on a nerve. I’d love to see lots more cycle routes, car free zones outside schools, and to challenge the assumptions surrounding cars and lorries rights versus cyclists and pedestrians, but it’s a hard to know where to start, but you’ve shown a way. If you ever feel like sharing any of your knowledge or any tips, please do get in touch. Thank you again, and I’m now going to spend some time reading about your son and looking at his photos. All the best, Mags
